The Injury Prevention Coalition of the South Plains (IPCSP) began in late 1997 in order to deal with the ever-increasing incidents of traumatic injuries and deaths.  The Coalition seeks to reduce the frequency and severity of preventable injuries and deaths.  The IPCSP is a regionally-based coalition and serves 24 counties in the South Plains area.

Counties We Serve

Bailey, Borden, Castro, Cochran, Cottle, Crosby, Dawson, Dickens, Floyd, Gaines, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Howard, Kent, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Mitchell, Motley, Scurry, Terry, and Yoakum

Philosophy

  • Injuries are not accidents.
  • Occurrence of injuries is predictable and preventable.
  • Community & regional organizations are best positioned to implement injury prevention efforts.

Our targets:

  • Injuries that are severe.
  • Injuries that are frequent.
  • Injuries that are preventable.

Our vision, the future

Our hope for the South Plains area is to truly make each and every community a safe community for everyone to live, work, and play in, especially our  children.  Imagine the South Plains as an area where injuries are on the decline, high risk driving practices are lessened, and everyone shares the responsibility of using roadways safely.  Citizens should feel that they can make a difference in their quality of life by helping to protect family, friends, and neighbors from injury and death.
